Information technology virtually covers all kinds of human endeavour. It can be best viewed as a huge ‘web’ with its hugely varying sectors. It has grown into a mammoth industry only in a few years time. With increasing complexities in human life, application of computers has also become vast and varied.
Information technology brings you information and applications, such as word-processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software that office workers rely on everywhere to do their jobs. Software:
In the software segment there are openings in software design houses and in companies involved in installing business systems. The job is in software systems and applications, software design and development, system analysis and application. Professionals such as Systems Analysts and Administrators, Analyst Programmers, Application Programmers, Information Systems Managers, Systems Maintenance Analysts, Software Quality Managers, Computer Operations Managers, Operations Research Analysts, Electronic Data Processing Managers, Database Managers are involved in customizing and facilitating the use of software and managing the flow of data.
Consultancy: Computer consultants specialize in any or all of the following areas of work- project management, hardware and software selection, information /database management, optimization of computer operations, data communications, trouble shooting and security, computer operations and telecommunications.
Computer Operations:involves data entry, desktop publishing, etc.
Marketing: Market Research, Market Analysis requires computer professionals with a marketing background.
Online Business: Electronic commerce has evolved with the convergence of computers and telecommunication technologies. E-commerce has generated an Internet economy, activating worldwide marketing and banking activities.
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP): ERP software is used for planning the resources of the entire worldwide network of an enterprise. Sales, service, distribution, marketing, purchase, manufacturing, inventory, finance, accounts, etc., are integrated on one software backbone through ERP.
Database Management: All information data and IT systems deal with the managing of information. The most popular database is the Relational Database (RDBMS) used by major corporate houses and banks, offering good job openings.
Web designing: Web designing courses cover the basics of designing web pages using HTML, XML, Dream weaver, Java applets, etc.
