Business Management
Nature of Work
Management is the buzz word today. The youth today are attracted towards a career in management in more numbers than they are towards the traditionally more sought after careers such as Medicine and Engineering. This, though, is not without reason. Management education has almost revolutionised the work style and ethos in the sphere of all business related activities as well as in areas requiring management function.
Management education offers several entry points and career paths. The graduate courses in business management have gained popularity as they provide an early entry into different professions, while keeping the option open for further studies. Nevertheless, management courses at the postgraduate level are still the most popular.

Prospects
In today´s global environment, business opportunities are growing at a very fast rate. With the opening up of the economy, managers can expect to increasingly find work more challenging with national and multinational businesses. In recent times, the salaries and perks offered to managers has seen an upsurge, which is in turn attracting a lot of youth who are keen on making it big in the corporate world and walking the corridors of power.
However, it must be pointed out that Management, like most other fields today, is a highly competitive field and requires as much hard work as any other field. The demand for trained management graduates is definitely on the upswing.
Study Route
One can look at entering Management as a career right after class 12 by pursuing a Management degree at an undergraduate level. The Bachelors level courses in Management are variously referred to as Bachelors in Business Administration, Bachelors in Management Studies, or Bachelors in Business Studies.
For students in the northern part of the country, the most sought after BBS program is offered by Delhi University´s Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, also popularly known as CBS. The BMS program offered by Mumbai University is an equally sought after program for those aspiring to enter the management profession.
The entrance to all undergraduate level management programmes are based on the marks obtained in class 12, along with merit in the entrance test.
